General Disclaimer

Matrangal Charitable Trust ("the Trust", "we", "us", "our") is a registered non-profit organisation based in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. We accept voluntary monetary contributions ("donations") from members of the public through our website, processed via a payment gateway provided by ICICI Bank Limited ("ICICI Bank", "the Payment Gateway").

We are not an e-commerce entity. The Trust does not sell any goods, products, services, subscriptions, or memberships through this website. Every payment processed on this site is a voluntary charitable donation, made entirely at the donor's discretion, towards causes described on our Services page.

By proceeding to make a donation through our website, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to the policies set out below.

1. Pricing Policy

Matrangal Charitable Trust does not operate a fixed pricing policy.

Because we are a charitable trust and not a seller of goods or services, there is no "price list", "product catalogue", or fixed fee structure of any kind associated with this website. Every donation is entirely voluntary, and the amount contributed is determined solely by the donor, at their own discretion.

  • Donor-determined amount: Our donation form displays suggested "quick amounts" (for example, ₹100, ₹500, ₹1,000, ₹5,000) purely as convenient reference points for donors who wish to give quickly. These are suggestions only — not minimum amounts, not fixed prices, and not mandatory in any way. Every donor may enter any custom amount of their choosing in the "Donation Amount" field, as long as it meets the minimum processing threshold of ₹1 required by our payment gateway.
  • No maximum limit imposed by the Trust: Subject only to the transaction limits enforced by ICICI Bank, the donor's bank, card network, or UPI provider, donors may contribute any amount they wish.
  • No goods or services are exchanged: A donation made through this website does not entitle the donor to receive any product, service, membership, voucher, or other consideration in return. It is a gift, made under Section 80G of the Income Tax Act, 1961 (subject to the Trust's valid registration and applicable law at the time of donation), for the charitable purposes described on our website.
  • Currency: All donations are processed exclusively in Indian Rupees (INR / ₹). We do not currently accept donations in any foreign currency through this website.
  • No hidden charges added by the Trust: The exact amount you enter on the donation form is the amount submitted for payment processing. The Trust does not add any convenience fee, service charge, processing fee, or markup on top of your chosen donation amount. Any transaction charges levied by ICICI Bank, card networks, or UPI service providers (if applicable) are borne by the Trust and are not passed on to the donor.

Because pricing is entirely donor-determined, no price revisions, discounts, offers, or promotional pricing of any kind apply to donations made through this website.

2. Refund and Cancellation Policy

As a general rule, donations made to Matrangal Charitable Trust are final, and are not eligible for refund or cancellation.

Once a donation is successfully processed, the funds are treated as an irrevocable charitable contribution and are typically allocated towards ongoing programmes — including education, healthcare, food distribution, disaster relief, women's empowerment, and elderly care initiatives — often within a short period of receipt. Because donated funds are a voluntary gift and not a payment for goods or services rendered to the donor, they cannot be "returned" in the way a commercial purchase might be.

2.1 No Cancellation After Payment

Since a donation is a single, one-time payment completed at the moment of transaction (there being no subscription, recurring billing, cart, or order placed in advance), there is no "order" to cancel once a payment has been successfully authorised by ICICI Bank's payment gateway. If you wish to stop a donation before completing payment, you may do so at any point prior to final submission on the ICICI Bank payment page by closing the browser tab or navigating away — no charge will be made unless the transaction is completed and confirmed.

2.2 Exceptional Circumstances — Genuine Technical Errors

Notwithstanding the general policy above, the Trust recognises that technical errors can occasionally occur during online payment processing. We will consider a refund request only in the following limited circumstances:

  • Duplicate transactions: where a donor's bank account, card, or UPI account was debited more than once for what was intended to be a single donation, due to a technical glitch, network timeout, or payment gateway error.
  • Erroneous amount charged: where the amount debited from the donor's account does not match the amount the donor intended to enter, as a direct result of a verifiable technical malfunction (not a donor data-entry error).
  • Failed transaction shown as successful: where a payment was debited from the donor's account but our records show the transaction as "Failed" or "Pending" and was never credited to the Trust.

In each of the above cases, the donor must report the issue to us in writing (see Contact details below) within 7 (seven) calendar days of the transaction date, providing:

  • The registered name, email address, and phone number used at the time of donation;
  • The transaction date, amount, and (if available) the ICICI Bank transaction reference number / Merchant Transaction Number shown on the payment confirmation or bank statement;
  • A copy of the bank/card/UPI statement or SMS confirmation evidencing the debit.
2.3 Review, Discretion, and Processing of Approved Refunds

All refund requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis and are subject to verification against our internal transaction records and, where necessary, confirmation from ICICI Bank. The decision to approve or decline a refund request rests solely at the discretion of the Trust's management.

Where a refund is approved, it will be processed back to the original payment instrument used for the donation (the same card, bank account, or UPI ID), in accordance with ICICI Bank's standard refund processing timelines — typically within 7–10 business days of approval, though actual credit to the donor's account may take longer depending on the donor's bank or card issuer.

The Trust does not process refunds in cash, by cheque, or to any account/instrument other than the one originally used to make the donation, in line with standard payment gateway and regulatory practice.

2.4 What Is Not Covered

Change of mind after a successful, correctly-processed donation; donor's own data-entry errors (e.g., entering a larger amount than intended, through no fault of the payment system); and disputes raised after the 7-day reporting window above, are not eligible for refund under this policy.

3. Checkout Page

Matrangal Charitable Trust does not maintain a traditional "checkout page", shopping cart, or order summary of the kind found on e-commerce websites.

A checkout page — with a cart, itemised order summary, shipping address, and invoice — is a feature required by websites that sell physical or digital goods and services. Since this website exists solely to accept charitable donations, and no goods or services are sold, bought, added to a cart, or shipped, such a page is not applicable to our platform and is therefore not maintained.

3.1 How a Donation Is Actually Processed

In place of a checkout flow, our donation process is a single, direct form-to-payment journey:

  1. Donation Form: The donor visits our Donate page and fills in their name, email address, an optional phone number, the donation amount, an optional cause/purpose (e.g., Child Education Fund, Medical Aid Camp), and an optional message. No shipping address, billing address, or product selection of any kind is collected, since none is required.
  2. Redirection to ICICI Bank: On submitting the form, the donor is redirected directly and securely to ICICI Bank's own hosted payment page. The Trust's website does not collect, process, or store any card number, CVV, UPI PIN, net banking credentials, or other sensitive payment information at any point — this is handled entirely within ICICI Bank's PCI-DSS-compliant environment.
  3. Payment Method Selection: On ICICI Bank's page, the donor selects their preferred payment method from those enabled on our merchant account — which may include UPI (including QR Code), Credit/Debit Cards, Net Banking, and NEFT/RTGS — and completes the payment there.
  4. Confirmation: Once payment is completed, the donor is redirected back to our website, where they see an on-screen confirmation of their donation (or a clear notice if the payment was unsuccessful or is still being confirmed).
  5. Record and Receipt: The donation is recorded in our systems against the donor's name and email address for record-keeping, gratitude communication, and (where applicable) tax-related documentation, in place of a conventional e-commerce invoice.
3.2 Why This Is Appropriate for a Donation Platform

This simplified, direct process reflects the nature of a charitable donation: a single, voluntary payment with no goods to select, compare, add to a cart, or check out with. It also minimises the amount of personal information we collect from donors, consistent with data-minimisation best practice.
